India is the biggest producer of Cumin Seeds in global spice market and new crop of Indian Cumin Seeds start every year February, this year crop expected 3.30 thousand metric tons out of this more than 70% of the crop consumed by domestic & Globally exported, since next new crop – 2017 have to go long path of 8 months and this year price are already high than comparing to previous years, China is the main importing country if they continues to buy prices are likely to move up again with high record.Also Turkey and Syria are competitors of India in Cumin Seeds.
New crop – 2016 of cumin seeds in Turkey-Syria is expected to arrive soon in market and there are various opinions and predictions for new crop arrivals will be around 25000 to 30000 tones.
Turkey cumin seeds are expected to arrive in market after 15thJuly 2016. Domestic consumption of Cumin Seeds in Turkey is around 3000 to 4000 tons. Looking at these expected Cumin exports from Turkey will be around 7000 tons.
From last few years it is talked in market that because of terrorist attacks in Turkey and Syria Cumin Seeds transportation is effected but the matter of fact is that Terrorists are earning good amount from Cumin Seeds transportation which will result in good exports of Cumin Seeds from these countries.
At present forward booking for June 2016 shipments of Turkey Cumin Seeds @ USD 2300/MT is done
Prices of Cumin Seeds have gone up at present because of good import demand from China. China has imported around 12000 tons of Indian Cumin Seeds and is expected to import more 13000 tons of Indian Cumin Seeds for current year.
