Indian Sesame Seeds New Summer Crop 2016 Crop Report

Indian Sesame Seeds New Summer Crop 2016 (June) production is expected very less to be around 15000 tons because of less sowing by farmers due to low prices of last crop and very hot summer as well as lack of water. Last year sesame seed summer crop produced around 45000 tons.

Current year due to lack of water and very high temperatures the yield of new crop is very less and quality is also weak. Discolor sesame seeds yield is more and there is less exportable quality.

Average summer crop-2016 production of Indian White Sesame Seeds is expected to be around 10,000 tons and Indian Black Sesame Seeds to be around 5000 tons. It is to be noted that last year Shefexil has given estimate of 36000 tons and IOPEPC has given estimate of 63,000 tons of Summer Crop 2015

The current total stock of Indian Sesame Seeds is expected to be around 1,10,000 tons. Gujarat has 25000 tons stock and combined stock of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan is around 75000-85000 tons.

The main reason for present slowdown in Indian Sesame seeds is stocks of around 10000 tons in boned warehouse of China and around 80,000 tons in transit to China which has caused to stop of new purchases of sesame seeds in market.

The prices of Sesame Seeds are expected to be in between from USD 1050/MT to USD 1200/MT

India has imported around 15,000 tons of Sesame Seeds from Somalia, South Africa. The present price of Somalia origin Sesame Seeds is around USD 1000/MT

New Sowing of Indian Sesame Seeds Summer Crop concludes that sowing was decrease in Gujarat and Rajasthan and in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh sowing was same as last year.
